The Judges’ Forum of Serbia has received an invitation to participate in a working group established by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, tasked with preparing proposals for amendments to judicial laws following the publication of the opinion of the Venice Commission on the so-called “Mrdić laws.”
Proceeding from the importance of this process, our association has undertaken the drafting of proposed amendments with a clear foundation in the positions of the Venice Commission. We consider this opinion to be a key guideline for improving judicial legislation, particularly in the areas concerning the preservation of judicial independence, as well as the transparency and efficiency of the system.
Our goal is to propose solutions that are professionally grounded, sustainable, and fully aligned with European standards.
We will inform both the professional and the general public in a timely manner about all proposals we prepare, as we believe that open dialogue is a prerequisite for high-quality and sustainable solutions.
We also expect that the Venice Commission will consider the proposed legislative amendments in the next phase. Should our proposals not be accepted within the domestic legislative process, we will обратиться to the Venice Commission so that they may be taken into account in the further assessment of the alignment of reform solutions with international standards.
Our association remains committed to providing a constructive contribution to judicial reform and to strengthening the rule of law in the Republic of Serbia.
